Here in Ipswich it looks like the summer has finally arrived – at last. The weather is sunny and warm but not as hot as it is in Rio de Janeiro where Past Chairman Louise Handy represented RQA at the 4th World Congress on Research Integrity (www.wcri2015.org). We hope that she met lots of interesting people and gained valuable insight into this rapidly developing region.
In the RQA office we’re busy putting together the materials for forthcoming training courses, as well as the preparation of the Statutory Accounts, planning for the RQA Conference and the European Conference, and the organisation of the Extraordinary General Meeting on 25 June 2015. All Full Members will have received the Notice of the EGM and should exercise their right to vote – postal/email votes are open until Friday 19 June.
Just a reminder that registration is open for the RQA Conference in Leeds in November – don’t miss the opportunity to network with colleagues and peers, attend innovative and motivating presentations, workshops and clinics, and hear award-winning keynote speaker Ben Goldacre (https://twitter.com/bengoldacre).
We recently published a free webcast entitled ‘What is social media?’ which explains how the RQA uses the major social networks.
The latest webcast to be published by RQA is the ‘Definitive Guide to ISO 9001:2015’ which is based upon the current draft standard. We also developed a ‘taster’ for this webcast so that some of the content can be viewed before purchasing. We’re currently working on a ‘Getting to Grips with ISO 9001:2105’ training course which will be launched later this year – email us at [email protected] for more information. Full details of all RQA training courses are included in the prospectus which is being drafted for publication later this month.
We’re excited that Carl has been invited to speak at the forthcoming Technology for Associations Congress; he’ll be talking about building communities before, during and after an event. We consider this to be an endorsement of the great work and effort that Carl has put into the development of learning – well done to Carl.
We have some more good news from the RQA office – Danielle is expecting a baby, which is due in November. Congratulations to Danielle and her husband, James.
Also, last but not least, it’s Gareth’s birthday on 22 June – Happy Birthday to Gareth!
